1st day

Last week, was Jake's first day of Kindergarten. He was excited and so were we. We had a little celebration before with his godmommy, beautiful letters and notes from friends and family and a few little surprises for him.

Time came, we took a obligatory picture of him in front of the door with his backpack and his new outfit.

The bus came and he excitedly gave me a kiss and off he went.

But then the tears came. His and mine! It was hard to let go for both of us. The end of just hanging out and doing every day what we wanted, no schedule, no homework just every day a new adventure. But the beginning of so much more - new friends, new things to learn, new schedule... i think this will be good for us!

2 hours later the phone rang. It was the schools number... i picked up and said "what happened?" The school nurse was on the other line, Jake fell at the playground, he is fine but he won't stop crying for me.

So,Scot picked him up. 1st Day of Kindergarten a flop.

But now we are on day 5 and he loves it. Everyday he comes home and declares it "the bestest day in history"

This morning he got up with the wrong foot... trying to cheer him up I mentioned it is another bestest day because it is Kindergarten. He looked at me all serious and said

"I am done with Kindergarten! My teacher talks a lot and gives me a headache!"

You can never win with Jakey!

a lesson about quitting

we signed jakey up for t-ball this season. not really because we cared for him to be good at a sport or even cared if it was tball, soccer, basketball, etc.
we signed him up because we wanted him to be part of something, have fun, try something new and listen to others. we've been having a lot of problems with him and the phrase "i can't do it". our son was becoming more and more of a quitter before even starting something.

"jake do you want to color?" "NO, i don't know how to, I can't"

"jakey, can you put your shoes on?" "NO, i can't"

so, we signed him up and we immediately heared "I can't!, I don't know how to play baseball"

first practise was tough... he screamed and screamed. seriously it was VERY embarrassing, but i wanted him to stick with it. he tried catching the ball a few times... couldn't, screamed, threw his baseball glove down and quit. quitting was not an option.

i asked him to sit, calm down, and watch the other kids play. a few minutes later he was ready for another try.

AND

he LOVED it! seriously, he totally enjoyed it. he ran after the ball from third base to first, he hit the ball, really really tried hard. and that's all i wanted!

he came home and asked scot

"did you hear me on the radio play?"

(scot always listens to baseball games on the radio)

last weekend was opening day parade and his first game.

YES i was very nervous for him to throw a fit again but no he surprised us again and had so much fun.

Jakey's turn

Not much going on here on this blog lately.

Sorry. I am going to work on a recap post later tonight... or tomorrow.

But in the meantime I thought I will share a few pictures Jake took with his camera over the year.

Enjoy!

new stall tactic

Do you know how kids have these stall tactics at bed time?
"Can I have a glass of water?"
"I need to go pee pee?"

Well this is how my kid tried to stall his bedtime last night:

J: "Mommy Mommy!"
Me: "Yes!!!"
J: "be careful!"
Me: "be careful with what?"
J: "be careful that you don't crack your head!"
Me: "huh???"
J: "or I am going to throw you in the trash!"

Obama boy

Obama boy, originally uploaded by Sonja B..

Today Ally and Lilly came over to hang out with us. We decided to make Obama T-shirt for the boys.
It was a real quick, easy and cheap (three words I like to hear) to make and looks really cool.
Btw... this is my blog and it is my business who I support. I can't even vote because I am not a US citizen, so please do not e mail me about politics. I don't care!

Finally got the internet fixed and now my power cord for my laptop is broke... ARGHHHH there is always something....

EDIT
of course, of course I meant kids!

What a week...

This week has been CRAZY!!! Not only is my Dad her for 5 weeks, but I also found out that we are expecting, I have to get tons of paperwork together for my green card application and taxes. I also have school (of course) and started again having a few photo shoots.
This past Wednesday I had my first twins shoot. 2 boys, 3 months old and waaay to cute! Made me start thinking how great it would be to have two... I know, lets get back to reality! Anyways the twins were awesome and I got some great photos.

Today we went first to a friends 3rd Birthday Party. Jake had a blast... even though he was the only boy at their age. So, a lot of Disney Princess presents, balloons, cake, goodies, etc. What a day for Disney!

After the part we went to the Kite Festival with Opa, Nina and Ben. I didn't expect us actually buying a kite and flying it... but it was great! Actually kite flying has been on top of my list of things that I want to do with Jake. I have some great memories flying and building our own kites with my Dad. And to share this day with him and my son was something I am not going to forget. Jake got his own kite and did a GREAT job flying it. But see for yourself

and why not... here are a few more!

Here are the boy's kites. They are the perfect size for them and of course have a t-rex on them.

Buddies!

And who says boys don't kiss?!?

On our way home we stopped at Ikea, had Swedish meatballs and let the boys play at Smaland... note to myself: Don't go to Ikea on the weekends! - On our way out we noticed a lady counting the people leaving the store and my Dad asked her how many she counted so far.... 17,500!!! IN ONE DAY!!!! Crazy!

On Monday I have my first midwives appointment and will find out our Due Date. So far I am feeling pretty good and it still hasn't hit us yet that we are having a baby... maybe that will change on Monday!

Have a nice weekend!

superheroes

superheroes, originally uploaded by Sonja B..

We had Jakey's buddy Ben over last night. I was upstairs folding laundry while the boys were playing downstairs... well that's what I thought! All of the sudden their voices seemed so far away that I went down to check on them.
They got dressed up as superheros, put on Scot's shoes and were chasing "bad guys" outside. I had to run back inside to get my camera and really couldn't be to mad at them.
We have to start locking the front door!

sleepy head

I am very lucky that I can take Jakey with me to work. It is a 35 minute drive and he usually falls asleep on our way up there. He continues to take his nap once we are there and wakes up about an hour before we have to go home again. Perfect!

early playdate

Jake's little buddy Ben came over early this morning, since his Mom had to go to a meeting. The boys had a great time, playing with their new foam pirate swords. But the ultimate surprise came when a package from Opa arrived! He sent Jakey tons of Kinder Surprise Eggs for his Birthday! Of course the boys had to have some right away and after the second one each, I had to hide them!

Thanks Opa! They are a HUGE hit!

Photobooth Cowboy

Photobooth Cowboy

bed time

Jake goes great to bed. We take him upstairs, brush his teeth, fill up the humidifier ("put the water in to make the cough better"), tuck him in, give him his mimi (milk), turn on his baby (gloworm), give him a kiss, a kiss for the baby, and a kiss for mimi and good night! Every night he picks out a different toy to sleep with him. Usually it is a monkey on a bike.... but lately it has been this giraffe.

Good night, sweet boy!

Bowling

We took Jake and his buddy Ben Bowling tonight. They had a blast! Both boys really did well for the first time and we're really good behaved.
I forgot to put my Memory Card back in my camera, so I don't have any pics... too bad, because their were some great moments. Benjamin and Jake "high fiving" (is that even a word?) after each play, us dancing and singing to "We will, we will rock you!", and Ben throwing a spare all on his own!
Sadly, both three year olds beat me! Yes, I am ashamed of myself! :) I just suck at bowling!

Rockin' Baby

Not much going on here lately, no new pictures, new stories, etc... so an old video will have to do

sorry, it is not rotated. Can't figure out how to do that or if I can do that. But it is my favorite video of Jake.
Btw Jakey is the little chubby baby and the boy next to him is Eli... one of the boys I used to babysit. Eli was in this video three years old... Jake's age now. Wow, time flies by!

I also found out today that I will be needing surgery on both feet. So, next week Wednesday I will be under the knife. Just the thought of it makes me sick right now and I am pretty nervous about the whole thing. Especially because I won't be able to walk 3-5 days... hehehe, yeah right have a 3 year old! But it will be a good excuse to skip school!

Speaking (Typing) of which I have to get ready for another loooong day at school tomorrow...

PS: I have added a autoplay song by Club 8 that I totally fell in love with. I realize it interferes with Elmo's song, but I really don't want to take it off. You can just pause the song on the right hand side on the bottom of the bar.

Happy Birthday, Daddy!
